This spectacular event features a beautiful display of colorful hot air balloons ascending in the early morning frost. Grab some warm clothes, some friends, some warm drinks, some more warm clothes…and join us as we engage in the wonder around us!

Hosted by Durango Parks & Rec. Join in the SNOWDOWN celebration by playing 3-on-3 basketball! This tournament is for kids in grades 3rd through 12th. 8 Divisions, maximum 4 players per team. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of 4 games and event T-shirt with registration. Volunteer referees and scorekeepers needed.

Did you know that Slash of Gun's and Roses loves his collection of pinball machines? Rock and Roll Pinball SNOWDOWN Showdown is a fun and exciting pinball tournament for junior rock stars to rock their Pinball Wizard skills! It's a 3 strike tournament, with fantastic prizes for the top 3 junior rockers and for best costumes. You will be matched up in groups of 4. The top 2 winners from each group will earn no strikes per round, whilst the players in 3rd and 4th will earn strikes. This is a great learning pinball morning and a fun experience for the kids. Pinball machines are on FREE play.

This is a party for kids from 3 years old, up to 5th graders! Bundle up and plan for a full morning of fun things to do for the “second-generation” of SNOWDOWN Kids! Play Frisbee golf, kick-ball, broomball, balloon pop, free throw, tug-o-war, go ice fish and more!

I’m aaahlright, nobody worry about me, ..we LOVE that song from Caddyshack and we have an event that is better than a movie! It’s golfing in Downtown Durango! Costumes and golf make this a “don’t miss” SNOWDOWN favorite. Whether you’re playing or being part of the rowdy gallery, it is a guaranteed fun time. Each hole is located in a different downtown establishment and created by some of the hottest course designers in Durango. Spectate at one of these locations: Palace Restaurant, Joel’s Bar, Derailed Pour House, Starlight Lounge, El Moro, El Rancho, The Elks Lodge, The Diamond Belle Saloon, Steamworks, Father’s Daughters Pizza, Gazpacho’s, The Red Snapper, Wild Horse Saloon, The Balcony, Olde Tymers, The Rochester Hotel, Cuckoo’s, Fired Up Pizza and more! Those who lay claim they rock the best Bloody Mary’s like a hurricane…bring it on! The Bloody Mary Contest takes place during the SNOWDOWN Chili Cook-Off. Vodka, cups and ice, ice baby will be provided. Contestants bring the rest to prepare their Bloody Mary’s and decorate their booth AND themselves. Costumes are encouraged! On Saturday afternoon RMPBS will be hosting a premiere screening of Roots to Ranches, a new cooking show on PBS hosted by Southern-raised, Denver-based chef Elise Wiggens. Directly following the screening there will be a panel discussion celebrating the influences of ranching, hunting, and foraging in home cuisine and local food culture, including information from La Plata County extension and other community partners on how home cooks can turn their hobbies into cottage-food businesses in the Western Slope.
