Only good vibes for this suds and bubbles SNOWDOWN event.  Boogie down all you foxy mamas and casanovas out there. You will have 3 minutes to show the judges and the crowd your best threads and your radical dance moves. Judging will be on your groovy dance moves, attire and ability to wash a car. Must be 21+.

Smiley Building - 1309 E 3rd Ave

Get PARADE READY in the Art Room at the Smiley building! Come get hip with us Friday Feb 2, 2-5 PM. Get early parking, get decorated, get food–then walk to the parade. Our artists will make you stellar with cosmic body paint and henna! Make far out fringe vests, head bands, and god’s eyes necklaces! Get radical bell bottom additions, and more! Then jive in the professional photography photo booth to capture your out of sight costume! Feed the whole family with Smiley Cafe’s groovy grub to go! Crafts are free until supplies last. All ages welcome.

2 PM APPLE TREE HUGGER

EsoTerra Cider Works - 558 Main

Get ready to embrace your inner Apple Tree Hugger! At EsoTerra, we're taking the love for apples to a whole new level with a far-out timed contest. The mission? Move 69 apples from one side of the room to the other, using only your arms and a whole lot of positive vibes. Drop by anytime and take your shot at apple-moving glory. We'll keep a groovy leaderboard going throughout the event, so you can track your progress and see who's leading the charge. At the end of this fruity adventure, we'll announce the ultimate Apple Tree Hugger, and they'll score a fab EsoTerra prize. It's all about good times, good vibes, and showing some love to those apples, man! All Ages welcome.

We Come In Peace: The Alien Invasion At The Powerhouse! Groovy aliens from planet the Sci have landed at The Powerhouse! Bring the whole family for a night of spectacular space-themed science silliness! Have fun with the forces of physics and build your own spaceships and aliens. Pizza is included with admission, so you can grab dinner before you peace out and invade the parade afterwards! Tickets are $10 per human. 3:30-5:30 PM. All ages welcome.

Hosted by The Mayors Youth Advisory Commission. Competition between kids under ten completing fun challenges while trying to keep their hand on a Durango Police car! Prizes will be awarded to the 3 kids who last the longest. Ages 10 and under.

5 PM SPAGHETTI DINNER

Elks Lodge - 901 E 2nd Ave (9th St entrance)

Spaghetti Dinner before and after the SNOWDOWN light parade. This dinner is characterized by a laid-back and communal atmosphere, emphasizing peace, love, and togetherness. Bring your appetite for this amazing meal of spaghetti & meatballs, salad, and garlic bread. Serving will start at 5 PM and go until the spaghetti runs out or by 8 PM. Hope you can all make it! This is a fundraising event for the Elks Lodge.

5:30 PM RED BALL EXPRESS

1099 Main (running from 2nd Ave down to Main on 11th Street)

Hosted by Rotary Clubs of La Plata County and Alpine Bank. RedBall Express is a local fundraising event organized by the Rotary Clubs of La Plata County. All proceeds from the event support Rotary projects in La Plata County and local programs for people in need or at risk. Adoption tickets are available for a $5 donation that allows the participant to adopt two of the red balls. The first two balls down the course win that adoption ticket holder $5,000. The second pair wins that adoption ticket holder $2,000, and the third pair wins that adoption ticket holder $1,000. Must be 21+.

6 PM ANNUAL SNOWDOWN LIGHT PARADE

Main from College Dr to 12th St

Hosted by Purgatory Resort. This is Durango’s only nighttime parade where lit floats cover Main Avenue. The parade will be showcasing vibrant colors, peace symbols, tie-dye, and flower power motifs for everyone to enjoy. You will see the blend of traditional winter festival elements with the carefree and creative expressions associated with hippie ideals. There will be groovy music and dancing! All ages.

Eschew obfuscation, espouse elucidation! Ever use a big word? Dude, you might not know what they mean! Join us and a panel of local judges to see if you actually know what that vocabulary you're using means. This vocabulary contest will get you a large cider pour of your choice, and then we'll send you up on stage... spelling bee -  elimination round style. We'll give each contestant a word, and you tell us what it means. Our judges and the crowd get to decide how close you are. We'll even give you a chance to convince them. Our winner will receive an EsoTerra prize! And everyone wins when the audience gets to vote by throwing ping-pong balls!!! Must be 18+.

Atencion amigos y amigas! The moment you’ve all been waiting for is here, the second annual Tortilla Slap is BACK, and boy have we spiced things up! We’ve amped up the fun, improved our efficiency and dialed up the flavor for an event that’ll have you shouting Ole! Get ready for a fiesta that’ll have you slapping tortillas like a pro and laughing till your guac spills over! Contestants will have to hold liquid in their mouth while their counterpart will take a crack at their cheeks with a tortilla, in hopes of knocking the drink out as well as them from the competition.
