Snowdown 2008 Snow Sculpture Contest

The Snowdown Snow Sculpture Competition made an appropriate comeback this snowy year after suffering from lack of snow and even vandals destroying the finished art one year.
" Ye Olde Snow Dragon" by Seth and Steve Boos and Peg Rogers won first prize in the Snowdown online Snow Sculpture Competition. "Huge Snowman" by Andrew Hoff won third prize. " Medieval Snow Fortress of Doom" by Morgan and Alexey Monshaugen and Gideon Moran won second prize.

The competition was online this time. Sculptors sent in pictures of their work and the result is announced today. Only four sculptors entered, said Mary Middlebook who organized the competition, but nearly 80 Snowdowners voted online.
• Seth and Steve Boos and Peg Rogers won first prize for their "Ye Olde Snow Dragon."
• Morgan and Alexey Monshaugen and Gideon Moran won second prize with their "Medieval Snow Fortress of Doom."
• Andrew Hoff won third prize for his "Huge Snowman."
• Eight-year-old Anne Chase won honorable mention for her "Snow Dragon."
The prizes were a dinner for two and a half growler from Carvers Brewing Co., a $15 gift certificate from Signature Salon and a $20 gift certificate from Sunnyside Markets. The sculptors are deciding among themselves who gets what.
