This 13th annual event pits vampires, werewolves and all monsters alike in the search for “THE SILVER BULLET!” Somewhere, hiding in the moors and haunts of Durango the Silver Bullet will be hidden. Find the Silver Bullet before anyone else and win $250 in cash, glory, and other fun and wonderful prizes. Here’s how it works: Each day starting Mon., Jan. 31, clues will be released on KIQX & KRSJ Radio that will start you on your search. You must be creative and smart in your interpretation of these clues to find the Silver Bullet and claim your plethora of prizes. Remember there’s no second place in this contest…there’s only one Coors Light Silver Bullet! Registration is not required.

Attention monstrous ones! Drop off a clean, preferably new stuffed bear at Durango Harley-Davidson all during the month of January! All bears will be donated to children at the VOA Durango Community Shelter and the Southwest Safehouse. Our goal is to provide at least 100 new stuffed bears for the children who benefit from these organizations. The bears provide comfort to children during stressful times, so step up and make a simple donation that will help this worthy effort – ‘cause sometimes life really is scary.

Teams of 4 shall search the haunts of Durango for the items on the list. The list has 100 items for you to find and all the items will fit into one City of Durango blue recycling box. The team who returns to the Elks Lodge on Friday NOON with the most items from the list wins!

Boo! This is the fashion show with bite! Wear your scariest, most haunting SNOWDOWN fashion while Gene Pool Gaultier presents his Collection of the highest and lowest fashions you’ve ever seen. Once again, Durangotangs will prove why Durango was voted “Worst Dressed Community“ by USA Today! For lunch you will be served the best ghoulish fare! The show will begin at 12:01 sharp. Lunch will be served at 12:12 and the fashion display begins at 12:29. The show ends at 1:29, so all attending can return to their dead end jobs. We’ll have prizes for the best of you. Remember, parking space is
limited so please ride together in those hearses and remember – it’s ADULT ENTERTAINMENT!! Get your tickets early as this popular event sells out quickly. All monies go to SNOWDOWN, so we can do it all again next year!

It’s the one and only spelling competition of SNOWDOWN! 3-person teams will test their spelling abilities against some of the most difficult words in the English language. Schools, organizations, neighborhoods, units of government and businesses enter teams of 3 to compete.

Those who lay claim to Durango’s best Bloody Mary can show off their goods at this bloody good time! The Bloody Mary Contest takes place during the SNOWDOWN Chili Cook-Off. Doors open at 10 AM for teams to prepare Bloody Marys and decorate their booth, costumes are encouraged. Each team will receive ½ of a table to decorate, prepare, and serve Bloody Marys from Noon until 2 PM. Turn in for official judging is at 11:30 AM. Sample tickets will cost $1 with all funds going to support SNOWDOWN! Guests can vote for the people’s choice award. Meet at the Main Mall at 12 Noon in costume to get scorecards and assignments for the shotgun start. Bring your own putter and golf ball. will be given multiple blocks of Spam, a plastic spoon and knife and 20 minutes to sculpt a monstrous creation made entirely of Spam. No toothpicks or other gimmicks allowed, just the Spam Ma’am. All ages are welcome!

The first 10 teams to sign up for each age group will participate but everyone is encouraged to show up, cheer your favorite monsters and enjoy the show! This is an obstacle course that may or may not include spaghetti, eyeballs
and slimy things to touch or race over. You won’t know til you get there if you dare! Ages are 4-10.
